NATICK: Mary Elizabeth “Betty” (Major) Ward, 86, died peacefully on Friday, November 30, 2012 with her loving daughter, grandchildren and one great-grandson at her side at the Metrowest Medical Center in Natick following a period of declining health.
She was born in Boston on July 5, 1926 the daughter of the late Edwin Major and Lillian (Fitch) Major.
Betty is survived by her devoted daughter and best friend, Mary E. “Snooky” Ward and her husband Sergio Klimowicz of Natick. She was the grandmother of Jeanne L. McDade of Webster, Gary P. Ward of Thompson, CT and Mary E. Napoli and her husband Michael of Hopkinton. Also survived by her beloved brother William Major of Colorado Springs, CO, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandsons. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Ward who died in 1988 and the sister of the late Harold Major and Lillian McQuilken.
Betty has been a resident of Natick for over 61 years and previously resided in the Boston, Brighton and Allston areas. For many years she was the Manager of the Far East Watch Repair Co. in Natick before retiring one month ago. She loved being with people from all walks of life and was always giving to others who needed help. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family especially visits to Old Orchard Beach, Maine with her daughter and son-in-law. She and her daughter Mary shared a very loving and caring relationship and were the best of friends.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Ward family lot in Lakeview Cemetery, Route 30, Cochituate Village, Wayland. A reception will follow at J.J. McKay’s, Junction of Route 27 and 30, Cochituate Village, Wayland.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial gifts in her memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
