Obituary

Holden - Ruth A. (Nelson) Ljungberg, 96, died peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, Worcester with her family by her side. She was born in Cambridge, MA, daughter of Selma A. (Berg) and Henry Nelson. She graduated from Somerville High School and Burdett Business College and worked as a secretary in Boston. She is survived by her son, Charles H. Ljungberg of Holden and his wife, Joanne; four grandchildren Kristin Ljungberg Babigian, Erik Ljungberg, Mark Ljungberg and David Ljungberg; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Alice E. Heller of Biglerville, PA; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Elwell J. Ljungberg as well as an infant son. She was also predeceased by a brother, Henry J. Nelson of Bellingham, MA and a sister, Anna K. Belanger of Shrewsbury, MA. She was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Worcester, a member of the Anna Circle, and the Women's Republican Club. The family would like to thank the staff at Notre Dame Long Term Care Center and the Notre Dame Hospice staff for their compassionate care to Ruth and the family during her nine years as a resident there.

A calling hour will be held between 11 am - 12 noon at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester and a celebration of her life will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel at Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street, Worcester on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Endowment Fund, 73 Lancaster Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
