Royal, Shannon Fern, 79, went to be with her Heavenly Father December 2, 2012 at the Norton Suburban Hospital. She was a long time member of the Shively Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elva and Wavy Royal.
Shannon was a graduate of Georgetown College and the University of Louisville. She was a dedicated educator with the Jefferson County Public Schools who taught at Butler High School and served as counselor at Valley High School until she retired in 1988.
She is survived by Hazel Fryrear, Richard Payton (Jeanette); Kenneth Payton (Florence); Cecil Payton (Emma); Diana Board; Londa Board; Reba Board; Myrl Board (Camille); Bobby Payton (Catherine); Lyndell Payton (Kathy); long time special friend and care giver Melanie Wood and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 Thursday at the Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., with burial in Rosina, Kentucky.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday and 9:00 Thursday morning.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to the Salvation Army or the Rosine Cemetery Fund.
