ANDOVER-TEWKSBURY - Mr. Norman L. Tisbert, age 76, a beloved friend and neighbor, whom the neighborhood had nominated as “The Mayor of South Street,” died Monday, December 3, at his home, surrounded by his beloved family, following a courageous but brief battle with Leukemia. He was husband of Jean C. (Thibault) Tisbert, with whom he had celebrated a 56th wedding anniversary this past June 3rd.
He was born in Andover, Christmas Eve, December 24th, 1935, one of twelve children of the late Arthur and Olivine (Couture) Tisbert. He had remained an Andover resident throughout his life, and devoted his life to his family.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the AFL-CIO, Boston Local 4, and worked on numerous projects throughout greater Boston.
Besides his wife Jean, he is survived by six children, Norman L. Tisbert Jr. and his wife Robin (Boutin) of Sandown, NH, James M. Tisbert and his wife Jill (Mailhoit) of Deerfield, NH, Brenda J. Pomierski and her husband Walter of East Hampstead, NH, Daniel R. Tisbert and his wife Deborah (Gates) of Deerfield, NH, William L. Tisbert and his wife Lynn (Peters) of Pelham, NH, Jean M. Ciriello and her husband James of Danville, NH; nineteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; several brothers, sisters, numerous nieces, nephews, dear friends and neighbors.
He was father of the late Carol A. Newell who died in September 2011.
Following cremation, memorial visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Prayers will be offered at 2:00 p.m on Saturday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, 275 Grove St., Newton, MA 02466 will be appreciated
