SPENCER:Woodrow W. "Speed" O'Coin 85 formerly of 12 Prospect St., died peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, June 21 in St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester.He was the husband of Gloria J. (Berthiaume) O'Coin who died in 1993. He leaves four sons Peter R. and his wife Peggy A. O'Coin of Cranberry Township, Pa., John M.A. O'Coin of Gold Canyon, Az., William W. and his wife Bette E. O'Coin of Leicester and Thomas A. O'Coin of Silver Spring,Md. his companion of 5 years, Lena Flewelling of Brookfield with whom he lived, five brothers Lionel, Fred and Roland O'Coin of Spencer,Leo O'Coin of E.Brookfield,Harold O'Coin of Lantana ,Fl., two sisters Lillie Belle Letendre and Lorraine Buckmaster of Spencer, seven grandchildren, Melanie Caiazza, Jason, Amanda, Ashley,Nathaniel, Joshua and Bethany O'Coin and a great grandson, Caleb Caiazza, many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother Clair "Popeye" O'Coin and a sister Jacqueline O'Coin. Mr. O'Coin was a steelworker for over 30 years at Wyman Gordon Co. in Worcester before retiring in 1980. He was an Army veteran of WWII and received the Purple Heart.He was a member and past Chaplin of the Gaudette-Kirk Post 138 American Legion in Spencer.He was a member of St.Mary's Church and was State Boxing Champion in the 110lb.Class in 1938.Born in Spencer, he was the son of Leo J. and Eva (Duval) O'Coin. The funeral will be held Wednesday, June 23 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 60 Maple St., Spencer. Burial will be in Mary,Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours are Tuesday, June 22 from 5 to 8p.m.
