William "Bill" Ferreira, 58, of New Bedford died unxpectedly at home on Father's Day Sunday, June 20, 2004. He was the husband of Jo-Ann (Strules) Ferreira.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late William J. and Elizabeth (Rowe) Ferreira, he had lived much of his life in San Francisco, California, until relocating back to New Bedford with his family in 1999.
He was a graduate of New Bedford High School and Northern Montana College.
Mr. Ferreira was employed as a Certified Mail and Distributions Systems Manager, yet his passions were baseball and football and he had been employed by the San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49ers as an usher during their reign in the 1990s
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Nicolas J. Ferreira and Alexander F. Ferreira, both of New Bedford; a sister, Mildred Leonard of Texas; an aunt, Alice Gracia of New Bedford; his niece, Kathy Leonard; his cousins, Eleanor Dunn of Fairhaven and John Wilson of Florida; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Stella (Xifaras) Strules of New Bedford; his sister-in-law, Carolyn Dlouhy of Mattapoisett; and other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was the good friend and brother-in-law of the late George F. Strules.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday June 24, 2004 at 5:45 PM, during the visitation, in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will be private. Visitation will be on Thursday June 24, 2004 from 4-7 PM.
