Edward J. Anacleto, Sr., 86, of Brandon, Florida, formerly of Dartmouth, died Thursday November 29, 2012 in Tampa. He was the husband of the late Philomena (Lima) Anacleto.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late John M. and Dominga (Gilmette) Anacleto, he lived in Dartmouth for most of his life before moving to Florida five years ago.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mr. Anacleto was formerly employed by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company until his retirement.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He was an active longtime member of the Cape Verdean-American Veterans Association. He enjoyed going to Foxwoods in his leisure time.
Survivors include five children, Doreen Anacleto of Reidsville, NC, Jana Laperriere of Acushnet, Debra Usman of Atlanta, GA, Edward J. "Toby" Anacleto, Jr. of Brandon, and Alan Anacleto of Deltona, FL; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Benvinda Fernandes, Dorothy Mitte, Antone Anacleto, Joaquim Anacleto, and Manuel Anacleto.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
