Myra Sandifer Griffin, 79, of Ocilla, Georgia died Saturday,December 1, 2012, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Ocilla United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Brenton officiating. Interment will follow in Ocilla Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7-9 at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Griffin was born September 23, 1933 in Irwin County to the late Ralph Sandifer and Addie Grey Woolsey Sandifer. A 1950 graduate of Ocilla High School, she attended the University of Georgia and business school in Jacksonville, FL. She was a former secretary at the Irwin Board of Education, assisted in the Irwin County High School Media Center, assisted with the physical education program and worked at the Irwin County Library. She was a member of Ocilla United Methodist Church where she participated in the United Methodist Women and was in charge of flowers at the church.
She is survived by her children: Cindy Griffin and Sandy & Stacey Griffin, all of Irwin County; grandchildren: Jake Martin, Wade & Hailey Martin, Devin Griffin & Drew Lavender, Reid Griffin, Cody Mixon and Cole Mixon; great grandchild, Judd Lavender. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 35 years who died in 1988, Arthur Griffin, Jr.
The family suggests memorials be made to Ocilla United Methodist Church,
Hospice of Tift Area or the American Cancer Society.
