Obituary

Long time Clarksville, TN independent insurance agent and tobacco auctioneer, John E. Halliburton, died at home on Sunday, December 2, 2012. He was born on October 3, 1922 to Troy and Louise Halliburton of the Sango community. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Harris (Julian) and Louise Hicks (Bob), his brother, Samuel Troy Halliburton and his wife of 50 years, Virginia Staton Halliburton. Mr. Halliburton was a former principal in the Rubel, Halliburton, and Northington Insurance Agency and was an auctioneer in the tobacco markets in Tennessee and North Carolina.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Madison Street United Methodist Church with Brother Cliff Wright officiating. Burial will be in Sango Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home and Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
John was an avid golfer and loved nothing better than being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, including Wena's family. He was loved by many in the congregation of Madison Street United Methodist Church for his handsome tenor voice which enriched many weddings and other occasions.
John is survived by his wife, Wena Hadley Rudolph Halliburton; son, John T. Halliburton (Charlsie); two daughters, Frances Sullivan of Jacksonville, FL and Lucy Gentry (Charlie); seven grandchildren, Ann Ketch (Terry), Troy Halliburton (Amy), Cullen Sullivan (Lisa), Virginia Hoover (Brook), Cal Gentry (Lisa), Sam Gentry (Stephanie), and Fran Gentry; ten great grandchildren; and Wena's children, Margaret Petrone (Bob), Johnny Rudolph (Janet), Wade Rudolph, and Carolyn Baar (Dave); her grandchildren, Rob Petrone (Alycia), Claire Speight (Mark), John Rudolph (Mindy), Katherine Roberts (Joe), Spencer Rudolph, Morgan Rudolph, Peyton Rudolph, Emily Baar, and Ella Baar; and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Cullen Sullivan, Troy Halliburton, Cal Gentry, Sam Gentry, Charlie Gentry, Johnny Rudolph, Wade Rudolph, and Terry Ketch. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren.
