Sol Johnson, age 76 of Brockton, died Wednesday Nov. 28, 2012. He was the devoted husband of Narumon (Khaosard) Johnson and father of Heath Johnson of Brockton. He was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama a son of the late Sol Johnson, Sr. and Lealer (Brown) Johnson and was raised in Pomeroy, Ohio. He had been a resident of Brockton since 1976. During the Vietnam era, Sol served in the US Army.
Sol retired as a store manager of the Ames Department Store in Roxbury after 34 years of service with both Ames and Zayres Department stores. In his retirement, he opened Sol’s Café on Main Street in Brockton. He loved to work but in his free time enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
He was the brother of Clarence Johnson of Ohio, Stacy Johnson of Mattapan and Jessie Johnson of Dorchester, an uncle to many and leaves a host of friends.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday 10 – 12 pm followed by a Funeral Service at noon. Burial with military honors in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
