Bristol, NH-----David Paul Hunt, 80, of Bristol, New Hampshire passed away on November 28, 2012 at Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, NH. He was born on August 14th, 1932 in South Casco, Maine, the son of Charles L. and Lena R. (Eldridge) Hunt. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean, to whom he was married for over 56 years.
He attended Casco schools and later joined the US Marine Corps in 1951 serving in the Korean War and later in the Panama Canal Zone. Upon honorable discharge from the service, David worked as a mason for many years. Later in life he worked for P&K Sand and Gravel, Inc. of Naples, Maine from which he retired.
In addition to his national military service, David also contributed to his local community in a variety of ways. He served as a Little League coach, a regional school board member, a member of American Legion Post 155 and was a fifteen year volunteer fire fighter for the Naples Fire Department. David’s interests included hunting, fishing, golfing, playing horseshoes and cribbage, bird watching, and was an avid dog lover.
He is survived by his sister, Lorraine (Hunt) Morton of Naples, Maine and his brother, Clarence Hunt of Casco, Maine. He is also survived by his three sons and their wives and two daughters and their husbands; Tim and Rose Hunt of Delafield, WI, Ted and Elaine Hunt of Coventry, RI, Tom and April Hunt of Hudson, NH, Sharon and Scott Low and Sheila and Michael Macklin of Bristol, NH.
David is also survived by and will be fondly remembered by his 18 grandchildren; Matthew, Peter, Karen, Shannon, Ashlee, Aaron, Kayla, Andrew, Greg, Hillary, Lauren, Jessica, Brittany, Thomas, David, Adam, Timothy and Michael; 5 great grandsons; Ethan, Noah, Jacob, Conor, Jackson and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In keeping with David’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. However, a graveside service with military honors will be held in Naples, Maine in the spring. Details of this service will be announced at a later date.
