Obituary

Doris Spencer Reedy, age 88, died Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital of Oxford, MS with her family by her side. Born December 9, 1923 in Delta City, MS to Willie James and Dean Cooper Spencer, she was raised in the MS delta with her four sisters. She attended Hilman College in Clinton, MS, and shortly thereafter, her college consolidated with MS College, which allowed her to meet the love of her life, Rev. Guy Reedy, Jr. of Aberdeen, MS.

Their last pastorate was First Baptist Church in Water Valley where they remained faithful members after his retirement.

Funeral services are planned at First Baptist Church in Water Valley for Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 3 PM with Dr. Randy Bain officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 PM until service time. Interment will follow the service in Oak Hill Cemetery with Lt. Col. Guy Reedy, IV, Mark Reedy, Spencer Reedy, Scott Reedy, Benjamin Prowell, and Sam Prowell serving as pallbearers.

"Mama Doris" as she was affectionately known to her family, is survived by one daughter, Gloria R. Lamb (Alan) of Oxford, MS; two sons, Millard Guy Reedy, III of Brandon, MS and Stephen S. Reedy (Margaret) of Vancleave, MS; three sisters, Willie Ruth (Harold) Savell of Ashville, NC, Joyce S.
