Edward N. Wilson, Jr.
Retired Tewksbury Fire Department Dispatcher
TEWKSBURY: Edward N. Wilson, Jr. age 86, a Tewksbury resident for 50 years, passed away at home, on Thursday, November 22, 2012, with his family by his side, under the care of Compassionate Care Hospice of Woburn, MA.
He was the beloved husband of Rose Marie (Sola) Wilson, with whom he celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on November 18, 2012.
Born in Stoneham on February 11, 1926, he was the son of the late Edward N. Wilson and the late Audrey M. (Hobbs) Wilson.
Edward was raised in the Allston-Greater Boston Area and attended Allston schools.
In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Medic during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Manchester. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal for his military service.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 10 years as a Dispatcher for the Tewksbury Fire Department. He also worked for Brigham's in upper management for 35 years.
Edward was a member of several area fraternal organizations including the Tewksbury Lions Club, the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Fr. Francis Coppens Council # 4336 Knights of Columbus of Tewksbury. In addition, he was a former member of the Tewksbury Planning Board as well as a member of the Auxiliary Police Department.
He enjoyed the ocean and summer vacations in Provincetown fishing and boating. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by four children, Donna Hauswirth and her husband Robert of Lowell, Lynda Wilson-Brislin of Dracut, Edward N. Wilson, III and his wife Terri of Grand Junction, CO and James E. Wilson of Mack, CO. He is survived by his brother, Forrest "Stanley" Wilson and his wife Kathy of Daytona Beach, FL; a sister, Audrey DiMassino and her husband Dominick of Ormond Beach, FL; also the brother of the late Richard and Donald Wilson. Ten loving grandchildren and five great grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.
