Marion E. Getchell, 87, of Derry, New Hampshire, died on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Marion was born October 19, 1925 in Biddeford, Maine, the daughter of Arthur L. and Elizabeth (Mannion) Girard. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School where she made First Communion and Confirmation. She was employed by Arlington Trust Bank for 14 years.
Marion was the wife of the late Raymond (Major) Getchell. She was the loving mother of her seven surviving children: Raymond Getchell of Winthrop, ME, Wayne Getchell of Londonderry, NH, Barry Getchell of Haverhill, MA, Paul Getchell of Salem, NH, Robert Getchell of Holliston, MA, Mary Snider of Haverhill, MA, and Kate Bibeau of Salem, NH. She also has 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Following cremation, a memorial service was held on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 1:00pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Hampshire Catholic Charities, PO Box 686, Manchester, NH 03105-0686.
