Obituary

Evans- Mr. William Thompson Perkins, 91, entered into rest on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Platts Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Tom Owen officiating. Burial will follow at Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Perkins was a Marine veteran of World War II, having served with the 19th Infantry. In 1976, he became a member of Damascus Baptist Church. He was a scorer for the Augusta National for 26 years, and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He met his wife, Joy, at Christian Singles over 21 years ago and by doing this they brought two families together.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Darley Perkins, his children, Tina Neitzke, Valerie Perkins Robinson, Jimmy Darley, and Schatzie Darley Culbreth, a sister, George Ann Babbitt, as well as seven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith H. Perkins and his daughter, Donna P. LeBlanc.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, November 28, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
