William G. “Billy” Rattigan 85, of Natick, died Monday, November 26, 2012, at the Mary Ann Morse Nursing home in Natick. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor M. (Wesolowski) Rattigan with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.
A Natick resident for 55 years, he was born and raised in the Oak Square section of Brighton, the son of the late Thomas and Catherine (Degnan) Rattigan. Billy was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 1st Cavalry Division of the Army of Occupation in Japan.
Mr. Rattigan was employed for twenty years in Treasury Department of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts retiring in 1992. He had previously worked twenty years for Carling Brewery in Natick and earlier for the Albert J Welch Corporation of Boston.
Devoted to his family, Billy was known by all as a true gentleman with a friendly nature. He enjoying talking to people and was especially noted in his neighborhood for the meticulous and beautiful way that he maintained his lawn and gardens.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three children, Mary Launie of Quincy, Patricia Grant and her husband Philip of Windham NH, and Thomas Rattigan and his wife Cynthia of Hopkinton, six grandchildren, Carolyn Nolan, Paul Launie, Anne Marie Launie, Christine Grant, Stephanie Grant, and Kellie Rattigan, one great-grandchild, Winnie Nolan, and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Frank, John and Joseph Rattigan, Catherine Meehan, and Margaret Walsh.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday November 30 at 10:30 A.M. from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Patrick’s Church at 11:30 A.M. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Interment St Patrick Cemetery.
