BRADFORD: Ruth (Sawyer) Robinson, 89, died, Friday, November 23, 2012 in the Wingate at Haverhill after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Donald R. Robinson, Sr. who died in 1987.
Ruth was born in Haverhill on September 21, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Allan Weare Sawyer and Mildred Edna (Howe) Sawyer.
A lifelong resident of Haverhill, she was a graduate of Haverhill High School. Ruth was a dedicated homemaker and loved spending time tending to her three small flower gardens in her yard. She also enjoyed needlepoint, knitting and was an ardent reader who was known to read at least a novel a week and kept up to date on the local news by reading the paper. Ruth had never obtained her driver's license when she was younger and when she became widowed she decided it was time to learn to drive and successfully took on the challenge of becoming a licensed driver at the age of sixty-six.
She is survived by her three children, Sharon A. and her husband, Robert C. Corthell of Haverhill, David R. Robinson of Bradford and Dennis R. and his wife, Linda Robinson of Allenstown, NH; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Sawyer of Rockledge, FL; a sister-in-law, Gloria Sawyer of Amesbury; a brother-in-law, Joseph and his wife, Norma Robinson of Atkinson, NH three daughters-in-law, Andrea M. Robinson of Campton, NH, Doris Robinson of Glendale, AZ and Priscilla Robinson of Amesbury and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her son, Donald R. Robinson, Jr., three brothers, Aldrich, Marlon and Chester Sawyer and her sister, Esther Ricker.
Her funeral Mass will be held celebrated on Friday at St. Patrick's Church, 114 Center St., Groveland at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill from 4 - 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701or to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 Interment will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Haverhill.
