Obituary

Lichenstein, Herbert 76, passed away on November 25, 2012 at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton. Herbert was born in Everett and was a graduate of Everett High School. Following his graduation at Everett High School, Mr. Lichenstein attended and graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Professional Diploma, Boston University with a Bachelor of Music Degree and Northeastern University with a Masters Degree in School Psychology. He also entered in the Doctoral Studies program at Boston University for Counseling and Psychology. Mr. Lichenstein was a Psychologist in the Melrose School System for 40 years. During his career in the Melrose School System, Mr. Licenstein spent his nights and weekends performing as a professional musician. Following his retirement in 2001 he spent the next 11 years as a full time musician, playing the trumpet, flugel horn, carnet, several typed of saxophones, the flute and the clarinet. He was affiliated with six different big bands and participated in a jazz luncheon workshop.

Herbert was the beloved husband of Judith Lichenstein. He was the devoted father of Carl Lichenstein and his wife Hillary Corbett.

Services will be held at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave., Cary Sq., Chelsea on Thursday November 29, 2012 at 1:00 PM. Interment in Everett. Donations in Herbert’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01707. Memorial observance will be held at Herbert’s late residence following the interment until 7:00 PM and Friday, 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
