Obituary

WORCESTER-Joseph R. Topor, Sr, 72 of 25 Bauer Street, died suddenly Friday, June 18th after being stricken ill at home. He leaves his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary C. (Hanlon) Topor, a son, Joseph R. “Jay” Topor, Jr. of Worcester, 2 sisters, Marion C. Nevalsky of Worcester and Barbara A. Dolcimascolo of Fairport, NY, 3 special grandsons, Joseph R. Topor, III, Chad F. Topor and Keith J. Topor, a special granddaughter, Kaleigh A. Topor, several aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. He also leaves many good friends and neighbors.

He was born in Worcester the son of Joseph J. and Mary R. (Balkurna) Topor and graduated from Boys Trade High School. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War having served on the USS LST 1153. Mr. Topor was a foreman at Heald Machine Company for 35 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council #88. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

The funeral is Wednesday, June 23rd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, June 22nd from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to a charity of the donors choice.
