Obituary

Joseph A. Jackson, 93, of New Bedford died Friday June 18, 2004 at Hallmark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Josephine (McNamara) Jackson.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Alfred and Clarinda (LaBonte) Jackson, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

He was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church.

Mr. Jackson was formerly employed as a fork lift mechanic at Revere Copper and Brass and later at NATCO.

He was a founding member of the Bristol 25/50 Anglers and a member of the Panthers Athletic Club. In his youth, he was an amateur boxer. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and fixing engines.

Survivors include his daughter, Joyce E. Jackson of New Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Horace Jackson.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordTuesday June 22, 2004 at 9 AMFuneral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., North Dartmouth at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Monday June 21, 2004 from 5-8 PM. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
