Gertrude D. Rowell, 80, of Fitzgerald, died Sunday, November 25, 2012, at her daughter’s residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.W. Taylor and the Rev. Matt Rowell officiating. Interment will follow in Englewood Cemetery, Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rowell was born April 21, 1932 in Colquitt County, Georgia to the late John Jacob and Gussie Mae Shinholser Dorminey. She was a former seamstress for the Monarch Company and Custom Sports Wear, former employee of Modern Fibers and worked as a sales clerk at B.C. Moores Department Store. She was a member of Englewood Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Ann Dale of Fitzgerald, Linda Gibbs of Ty Ty, Cathy Coleman of Woodstock and Janet & Herb Fulghum of Sparks; son and daughter-in-law: Herman E. Rowell, Jr. & Wanda of Tifton; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: David & Betty Garrison of Fitzgerald, Herman & Geraldine Sewell of Sylvester and James & Grace Dorminey of Moultrie and a brother-in-law: I.B. Murray of Warner Robins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Herman Elton Rowell, two sons: Edward Kelly Rowell and Lamar E. Rowell, a daughter: Mary Ruth Roberts, three grandchildren; three brothers; two sisters; and two son-in-laws: Don Dale and J.D. Gibbs, Jr.
