Obituary

Joanne M. Nahil, died Tuesday afternoon, November 21, 2012, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family and devoted friends.

The daughter of the late Charles J. and Anna (Janigian) Nahil, she was born in Lawrence, MA on October 6, 1944.

She was a product of the Lawrence School System and graduated from Lawrence High School in June, 1962.

She pursued course work in the X-Ray technologies and in July, 1967 was certified as a Registered Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

In June, 1985, she graduated from Northern Essex Community College with an Associate in Science Degree with a specialization in Radiological Technology. She subsequently spent many years as an X-Ray Technologist for the Leahy Clinic in Boston and Burlington, and for Greater Lawrence medical practices..

She had most recently been employed for several years by LGH Enterprises and worked as an X-Ray Technologist at LGH’s Women’s Health Center, Andover, MA.

For a period of years, she also ran Nahil Appraisal Services, a full service real estate appraisal agency. She was an accredited appraiser for the State of New Hampshire and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Joanne is survived by her brother, Joseph C. Nahil and his wife Ann Marie (Murphy) Nahil of East Dennis, MA and her brother John “Jack” G. Nahil of Kennebunk, Maine.

She leaves her devoted nephew, Christopher M. Nahil and his wife Julie (Baker) Nahil and their children, Emily C. Nahil and Liam C. Nahil, all of Hingham. Also, her niece Kaitlin N. McClung and her children, Ian A. McClung, William J. McClung and Anna J. McClung, all of Peyton, CO.

She also leaves behind her close cousin, Michael J . Ovoian of Methen.
She was privileged to have the friendship and support of a large circle of friends and associates with whom she skied, golfed, scuba dived and traveled the world.

In addition to many professional societies, she was a member and former officer in the American Lebanese Awareness Association. Most recently, she was charged with soliciting corporate sponsorships for ALAA’s Annual Scholarship Award Gala.

Family and friends will celebrate and lovingly remember Joanne’s life by gathering for her Funeral Liturgy in St. Anthony Maronite Church, 145 Amesbury St., Lawrence on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 10 AM. Friends and family will be warmly received in the KENNETH H. POLLARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen on Sunday, November 25 from 3-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in her memory be made to ALAA in memory of Joanne Nahil, PO Box 292, Lawrence, MA 01842 or to St. Anthony's Maronite Church 145 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA.
