Obituary

WORCESTER: Ernesto Alvarez, 83, of 52 Country Club Blvd., died Monday, November 19, 2012 at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Carmen (Roldan) Alvarez; two sons, Ernest Alvarez and his wife Judy of Brooklyn, NY, Adrian Alvarez and his wife Bruni of Brick, NJ; two daughters, Lillian Alvarez and her companion Joe Tolson of Worcester; Nilda Alvarez of Worcester; a sister Mindy Alvarez of Puerto Rico; eight grandchildren, Eric, Samantha, Adam, Brian, Letty, Joshua, Tisha and Chris; eight great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Four brothers and a sister, all predeceased him.
He was born in Aguadilla, Borinquen, Puerto Rico, son of the late Ernesto and Isabel (Acevedo) Alvarez. He moved to the United States at the age of 18 and lived in Brooklyn and the Catskills before moving to Worcester in 2010.
Ernesto was Head Pantry Man at The Links Club in Manhattan, NY where he worked for more than 31 years until he retired. Before moving to the U.S. he worked on an Army Base in Puerto Rico. He enjoyed bowling, playing dominos, was proficient with math and will be remembered for his big and caring heart.
CALLING HOURS will be held from 2 to 5 P.M. on SUNDAY, NOV. 25 in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held in the funeral home on MONDAY, NOV. 26 at 11 A.M., followed by burial in Hope Cemetery.
