Obituary

SPRINGFIELD - Lucien F. “Lou” Lamoureux, 87, a longtime resident of the Forest Park section of Springfield was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, November 21, 2012. He passed into Eternal Life at his daughter Therese's home in West Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Coaticook, Province of Quebec, Canada on October 5, 1925, a beloved son of the late William and Odina (Bedard) Lamoureux. He came to the United States in the 1940's and settled in the Brightwood section of Springfield in the 1950’s where he lived for many years before moving to the Forest Park section of the city. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and attained the rank of Technician Fifth Grade. He served in the battles of Rhineland and Central Europe and received the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon, the Army of Occupation Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. Following his military service, he was employed for over 33 years as a machinist at Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, Connecticut and retired in 1992. He was a longtime communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield and a current communicant of Holy Name Church in Springfield. He was also a longtime member of the Brightwood Golden Age Club. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Jeanne C. (Talbot) Lamoureux who was Called Home on March 16, 2009. They were married on October 3, 1953 at the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 55 years of happiness together. He leaves his four loving children, Raymond H. Lamoureux and his wife, Debbie of Ludlow, Richard H. Lamoureux and Robert P. Lamoureux, both of Chicopee and Therese A. Nooney of West Springfield; his six cherished grandchildren, Daniel, Amie, Lisa, Jennifer, Tiffany and Melissa; his four cherished great-grandchildren, Brandon, Dominic, Calvin and Cavin; his dear sisters, Doris Griffith of Fort Walton Beach, FL and Rita Templeman of Blandford, MA; his dear sister-in-law, Yvonne Peery of Connecticut; and his many dear nephews and nieces. His funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, November 28, 2012 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107 (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Name Church, 323 Dickinson Street, Springfield, MA 01108. His Committal Service with Military Honors will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
