Obituary

Erasmo “Razzy” Hernandez, 93, of Derry, NH died Monday, November 19, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 18, 1919 in Cayey, Puerto Rico, a son of the late Ramon and Isabel (Colon) Hernandez. Mr. Hernandez proudly served in the US Army during World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War, retiring after 28 years as a Sergeant First Class. He and his wife Maria enjoyed traveling all over the world for over 30 years before she passed away in 2001. Razzy had a passion for music, especially Boricua, a special type of Spanish music that came from his region of Puerto Rico. He loved playing his guitar, singing and writing his own music, some of which was recorded as a demo. He also loved to drive his cars and enjoyed trading in the cars for the next newest model each year. He was a Baseball fanatic. Razzy was a true gentleman in every sense of the word.
He is survived by two daughters, Maria (Hernandez) Coffey and her husband Robert Hirtreiter of Derry, and Anna Hernandez-Colon of New York, one son, Joelly Hernandez of Florida, five grandchildren, Lisa Coffey of New Hampshire, Scott Coffey of Florida, Chrissy Hernandez, Maricelle Colon and Johnny Colon all of New York, 10 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Maria (Morales-Marrero).
Following cremation, memorial services were held on Monday November 26, 2012 at 10:00am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. Burial followed in Edgewood Cemetery, Nashua, NH with his wife. Memorial contributions may be made in Razzy’s memory to the VA Medical Center, 718 Smyth Road, Manchester, NH 03104.
