Obituary

James S. “Jimmy” Fletcher, Jr., 63, of Irwin County, died Saturday, November 17, 2012, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Pinetta Baptist Church, Irwin County with the Rev. David Barton and the Rev. Jack Perrin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.

Mr. Fletcher was born November 20, 1948 in Tifton to the late James Sutton & Myrtle Hall Fletcher. He moved to Irwin County in 1955 from Tifton. A 1967 graduate of Irwin County High School, Mr. Fletcher was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in Guam. He was a farmer and a retired employee of Exopack, formerly Union Camp. Mr. Fletcher was a member of Pinetta Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and a teacher and superintendent for the Sunday school department.

He is survived by his daughter: Jamie Leigh Johnson of Fitzgerald; a son: James Matthew “Matt” Fletcher of Atlanta; three grandchildren: Ty, Bo, and Gracie Johnson; a brother: Joel Fletcher of Tifton; a sister: Jayne F. Hendley of Tifton as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Sue Carol Stevens and Linda Fletcher Brown.
