Obituary

SALEM- Sophie (Jordan) Zielin, 92, of Salem, wife of the late Henry Zielin, died Wednesday afternoon, June 16, 2004 at the Academy Manor Nursing Home, Andover, following a short illness.

Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Veronica (Kempa) Jordan. Her parents owned and operated a grocery/butcher store on Derby Street, where she worked as a teenager.

A resident of Lynn for most of her life until returning to Salem 3 years ago, Mrs. Zielin was active with Saint Michael’s Church in Lynn, where she ran events and candy sales for the benefit of the Church while her children attend St. Michael’s School. She was active in the Lynn Little League as well as the American Red Cross. She loved to dance the polka with her husband, often at St. Michael's Hall in Lynn.

She is survived by three sons, Henry and his wife Gail Zielin of Setauket, NY, Stanley Zielin of San Francisco, CA, John Zielin of Andover, two sisters, Dolores T. Jordan and Alice M. Jordan, both of Salem. and 6 grandchildren, Jill Zielin, Derek Zielin Jordan Zielin, Sasha Zielin, Christopher Zielin Page and Alison Zielin Page. She was the sister of the late Helen Jordan, Stanley Jordan and Joseph Jordan.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 11 am at the St. John The Baptist Church, 28 St. Peter St., Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
