Obituary

Helen "Marilyn" (Oliver) Horsley, 76, of Fairhaven passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday November 17, 2012 at her daughter's home after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Conlan) Oliver. She graduated from the Union Hospital School of Nursing in 1957 and worked in the Framingham, Hudson, and Marlboro areas for almost 40 years. Her career included hospital, nursing home, and private care before she retired to Fairhaven. She loved her nursing career and always enjoyed her patients.
Always available for her three daughters with wisdom and advice, Marilyn was also adored for her great sense of humor and always made those around her laugh. She loved collecting keepsake items and was also an avid reader. Most of all, she cherished her family and great friends, and being Nana to her three beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters, Karen Horsley-Ryan and her husband Steve of Fairhaven, Pamela Flory and her husband Rob of Hopewell, NJ, and Sara Horsley of Aptos, CA; a brother, William Oliver of Fairhaven; and three grandchildren, Teddy Ryan, Martin Flory, and Madeline Flory.
She was the sister of the late Joan Costa.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart Church, 121 Mount Pleasant St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
