Hildred I. McCranie, 90, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at Thomson Manor in Thomson, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Crossview Baptist Church, Fitzgerald, with Rev. David Fisher and Rev. Greg Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. McCranie was born May 14, 1914 in Dooly County, Georgia to the late Jerome and Ada Belle Swearenger Walton. She lived in Fitzgerald all of her life and was a former employee of the Monarch Company, S.W.S. Garment Factory, and Fitzgerald Mills. Mrs. McCranie was the oldest charter member of Northside Baptist Church, now Crossview Baptist Church, and the Nancy Gordon Sunday School Class. She served as class secretary for many years.
Mrs. McCranie is survived by two sons: James C. McCranie, Fayetteville and William E. McCranie, Fitzgerald; five daughters: Laverne Hogan, Fitzgerald, Marianne Whitaker, Thomson, Jonnie Grimsley, Warner Robins, Joyce Crump, Knoxville, TN and Bonita James, Valley, AL; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl McCranie, two sons: David and Allen McCranie, two sisters and two brothers.
