HUBBARDSTON- - Rand Eagan, 62, died peacefully at home in the company of family on Friday, November 9, 2012. Rand was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Geraldine Eagan, as well as his brother Richard Eagan, Jr., all of Beverly. He is survived by Donna Eagan, his wife of forty years; his sisters, Nancy Becker and Tricia Shamus and their families; his daughter, Katie Eagan; his son, Jeffrey Eagan, daughter-in-law Jennifer Eagan, and grandson Ryder Eagan; and his daughter, Carrie Vasseur, son-in-law Matthew Vasseur, and grandchildren Ailee and Benjamin Vasseur. Rand grew up in Beverly, graduating from Beverly High School then attending Lowell Technical Institute. He began his family in Hopkinton, while working for Cramer Electronics and Digital Equipment Corporation, later moving to Hubbardston, which had been his home for the past twenty-five years. Rand worked in group homes, most recently in Rutland and Hubbardston, caring for mentally disabled adults until his retirement. He nurtured a lifelong love of herpetology, making many friends who shared this interest along the way. A lover of the outdoors, Rand was also an avid hiker until suffering a disabling leg injury in recent years. He continued to exercise regularly despite this setback, however, spending many hours with his second family at Iron World gym in Gardner. An independent spirit, Rand lived his life on his own terms, and he will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Per his request, there will be no services or calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to The Trustees of Reservations or the ASPCA.
