Terrence Michael Fitzpatrick of West Roxbury, MA, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 after a two month battle with cancer.
Terry was the beloved husband of Laurie (Essig) Fitzpatrick and loving father to Lia Carraig Fitzpatrick.
Terry was born on November 1, 1956 in Sioux City, Iowa. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Virginia (Barghols) Fitzpatrick. In addition to his wife and daughter, Terry is survived by his sisters Kathleen Fitzpatrick, Iowa City, IA; Mary Fitzpatrick (Jim Leaven) Iowa City, IA; and Patricia Wyatt, Lee’s Summit, MO; brothers Mark Fitzpatrick, San Francisco, CA; Brian Fitzpatrick (Nicky Stanke) Kansas City, MO; Jim Fitzpatrick, San Francisco, CA; nieces Sara Fitzpatrick, Timonium, MD; Megan Fitzpatrick, Springfield, MO; Jenna Stanke, Ashland, OR; nephews Nick Wyatt, Kirksville, MO, and Alex Leaven, Ann Arbor, MI; and countless friends.
Terry’s entire career was dedicated to helping people living with disabilities and other obstacles to employment. Through his work as the Vice President of Retail Enterprise at Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries of Boston, as well as at Goodwill organizations in Iowa City, San Francisco and Oakland, CA, and New Orleans, LA. Terry devoted himself both personally and professionally to providing people who face great challenges the opportunity for lives of independence and dignity through work. Through his leadership of Goodwill retail enterprises he lifted the hopes and elevated the quality of life for a multitude of individuals.
Terry will be dearly missed by his family, friends and neighbors. He will be remembered with fondness and admiration by his colleagues and coworkers around the country. And he will be thought of gratefully by participants in Goodwill programs.
Memorial Services will take place at Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, West Roxbury, MA on Sunday, November 18 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. On Monday, November 19, funeral Mass will take place at Holy Name Parish, West Roxbury, MA. Prior to proceeding to Holy Name Parish there will be an hour visitation from 9:00am to 10:00am at the Gormley Funeral Home.
