Stanley McDonald Green, 68, of Clarksville, TN, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 with his loving wife and son at his bedside.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Dr. Felts Dent officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Stanley was born on January 12, 1944 in Hampton, Virginia to the late Maj. Hubert Green and Emma Brockwell Green. The military life afforded Stanley the opportunity to attend nine different schools with number nine being Clarksville High School, where he graduated in 1962. Stanley served as co-captain of the CHS football team. At CHS, he met his sweetheart, Dianne Miller. He and Dianne married on December 12, 1964, and to this union came one son, Greg.
Prior to leaving for the U.S. Army, Stanley graduated in 1967 from APSU. Stanley served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970. As a result, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Overseas Bar. After leaving the Army, he began his tenure as sales manager of the Sears store in Clarksville, TN and retired in 2001.
Stanley was also an active member of First Baptist Church and Ray Stone's Sunday School Class. He was a member of the VFW, past President of Clarksville National Little League and Wildcat Booster Club, and member of Clarksville Civitan Club.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William (Bill) C. Green.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Dianne Miller Green; son, Gregory Scott Green; brother, Charles Hubert Green (Kathy); brother-in-law, Charles Miller (Drema); and special pets, Mason and Missy.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Ray Stone's Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
