Vincent S. Raso, 83 of Camarillo, California, died Monday at home after a long illness.
Born in Cambridge, he lived in Camarillo for the past 11 years and formerly of Medford, Woburn and Gilford, NH. He was the son of the late Josephine (LaBella) and Charles Raso. Vincent was a Chef with Sodexo for over 25 years at Plymouth State College in New Hampshire and Amgen of California. He also was the former owner of The Cobblestone Restaurant in Charlestown and Charlie’s Grill in Charlestown. Vincent was also a singer and drummer with the band “Two Scotches and a Rye plus One” in the ‘60’s through ‘80’s. He and his wife also had a band “Karen and Co” from 1990 till present. He also was past President of Grandsons of Italy, a charity working with physically challenged children, senior citizens and veterans. He served during the Korean War in the US Army as a Sergeant from 1948 to 1951.
Beloved husband of Karen (DeSimone) Raso. Devoted father of Linda Forester and her husband Anthony of Wilmington, Vincent and Joseph Raso both of Gilford, NH, Tammy Cosgrove and her husband Michael of Newton, and TJ DeSalvo of Ventura, CA. Also survived by 7 loving grandchildren. Brother of Charlie Raso of Lynnfield, and late twin brother Gregory Raso. Also many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Tuesday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4-8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
