Dartmouth – Maria Teresa Oliveira, age 66, died Tuesday, November 13 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Jose M. Oliveira of Dartmouth who was born in Candelaria. Mrs. Oliveira was the loving mother of Margaret DeMedeiros wife of Victor of New Bedford. Maria was the grandmother of Everett Rosa of New Bedford. Maria was the sister of Madeline Aguiar of Rochester, Joe Camara of Dartmouth and Manuel Camara of New Bedford. Mrs. Oliveira is also survived by 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
Mrs. Oliveira was mother of the late Paul Jorge Oliveira whom passed in 2001. Maria was the daughter in-law of the late Virginia daConceicao Oliveira and the late Joao Oliveira.
Mrs. Oliveira was the daughter of the late Mercedes Camara and the late Jose Camara. She was born in Varzea St. Michael, Açores, lived in Candelaria for a period of time then moved to this country in 1966 and lived in Dartmouth most her life. She worked as a stitcher for several clothing manufactures and she was a devout catholic.
Maria’s funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Friday at 8:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in South Dartmouth at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
