Serge Grandoni, 85, of Millis, a former resident of Natick for 50 years, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2012 at the Thomas Upham Health Care Facility in Medfield. He was the husband of the late Mary (Dimitri) Grandoni who passed away in 2001 and with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
Born in Framingham, the son of the late Umberto and Linda (Bruscia) Grandoni, he was a United States Navy veteran having honorably served from 1945-1947. He began his career in the banking industry as the branch manager of the Wellesley National Bank in Newton Lower Falls in 1949 and continued on with them until his retirement after 35 years of service as the Vice President of the Commercial Lending Division. During his banking career he attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO, Williams College in Williamstown, MA, and the American Institute of Banking. Mr. Grandoni was a member of the Wellesley Rotary Club and the Albanian Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Natick. He enjoyed antiquing, bookfinding, golfing , and was an avid reader.
He is survived by 1 daughter, Robin E. Zonghi of Northbridge; 5 granddaughters, Danielle, Amanda, Kimberly, Jessica, and Maya,1 sister, Alma Grandoni of Framingham; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Mark Serge Grandoni in September, 2012 and his brother Aldo Grandoni.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Serge’s funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) Natick on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 9:00 AM to be followed by his funeral service in the Albanian Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 37 Washington St. Natick at 10:00 AM. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 5-7 PM.
