Obituary


MARSTONS MILLS – Richard J. Quigley, 80, of Marstons Mills, passed away peacefully after a long illness on November 4, 2012 at the Bourne Manor Extended Care Facility in Bourne.

Born in Taunton, Richard was the son of the late Joseph A. and Edith (Dunham)Quigley and was a 1950 graduate of Taunton High School.

Richard completed two years of education at Boston University. He served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1955 as a Staff Sergeant.

Richard’s career was primarily one of Direct Sales and included managing his own successful Real Estate Agency in Lower Cape Cod Area.

A resident of Marstons Mills for many years, he previously lived in Taunton, Eastham and Los Angeles.

Richard was the brother of the late John R. and David L. Quigley. He is survived by five nieces, Bonnie Schulman of Marstons Mills, Christen Ip and her husband Charles of Mashpee, Erin Quigley of Los Angeles, CA, Mary Quigley of North Hollywood, CA, Noelle Polmanteer and her husband Keith of Long Beach, CA; nephew John Quigley and his wife Carrie of Long Beach, CA; cousin Bill Boucher of Taunton; and loyal friends Ken and Cheryl Hart of Sandwich. Richard was a voracious reader and philosopher, and his love of animals extended beyond his precious pets Jersey and Logan. He had a great love of horses and horse racing.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Richard’s life and a brief service on Saturday, November 17 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street, Taunton, followed by interment in the family plot at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
