Nikolai G. Amov, 91, of Mansfield, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Golden Living Center on George St. in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Ingrid H. (Schimmer) Amov, to whom he was wed on April 29, 1969.
Born in Bulgaria on October 5, 1921, he was a son of the late George and Alexandrina (Vassilieff) Afressimoff.
Nikolai grew up and was educated in France. He had made his home in Mansfield for the past 28 years and was a former resident of Dedham.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Amov had worked as a buyer for a gourmet cheese and food importing company in East Boston. His hobbies included playing chess, tennis, skiing, horseback riding, and both salt and fresh water fishing.
In addition to his beloved wife Ingrid, he is survived by his devoted son Patrick O. Amov of Arlington. He was the brother of Michael VonRosen of Austria and Friedrich VonRosen of Germany, and is also survived by his loving granddaughters, Simone and Lucy.
At the request of his family, visiting hours have been omitted and services and burial will be private.
