Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Arthur C. Tucker, 87, died Sunday, November 4, 2012 in the Den Mar Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Rockport following an extended illness. He was the husband of the late Rachel (Robinson) Stone Tucker and his first wife, Helen (McMahon) Tucker.
Born in Gloucester on October 14, 1925, he was the son of the late James N. and Gladys M. (Johnson) Tucker. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the Asiatic Pacific and European Area before being honorable discharged in February 1946. He had resided in Gloucester for many years before moving to Tampa, Florida for several years and later returning to Gloucester.
Arthur worked as a commercial fisherman aboard several Gloucester fishing vessels for many years before retiring twenty years ago. An avid amateur artist, he enjoyed painting portraits and fishing boats and painting restorations. A real car enthusiast, he loved restoring cars and buying and selling them. He also enjoyed traveling to New Hampshire and Vermont.
He is survived by two sisters, Nancy Lumbard of Gloucester and Mary Bitelli and her husband, Leonard of Ballston, NY; two brothers, James Tucker, Jr. and Richard Tucker both of Gloucester; two step-daughters, Patricia Rioux and her husband, George of Salisbury and Lucille Costa of Gloucester; three children, Janice, Arthur and Robert Tucker; his best friend, Curtis Dagley and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be privately held at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
