ODOM - Willie T. Odom, 77, passed away early Sunday morning, November 4, 2012 at his Fernandina Beach residence. Mr. Odom was born August 18, 1935 in Eastman, GA and moved to the Nassauville area of Fernandina Beach, FL 21 years ago from Albany, GA.
Those who knew him best knew him to be a good and loving father and a very hard working man. He loved nature, the outdoors and fishing. He also loved automobiles, racing and other sports. Mr. Odom served in the National Guard and worked in Civil Service. He also owned a restaurant and was the owner of Odom Septic Tank Service.
He was predeceased by his parents, John J. and Leila McCraine Odom. Survivors include six daughters, Lois Odom of Thomasville, GA, Jean Jesse of Fernandina Beach, FL, Shirley Boone (Danny), also of Fernandina Beach, Kathy Odom of Jacksonville, FL, Ann Robbins (Ricky) of Jacksonville, FL and Michelle Lumpkin, also of Jacksonville; one step daughter, Pamela Childers (Richie); two step sons, Roger Lee (Sheila) and Mickey Lee, all living in Georgia; a brother, Wesley Odom; sister, Faye Odom; former wife and friend, Bernice Moody Odom; 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; cousin, Larry Kirkland, and other family members.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8, at Green Pine Cemetery with Rev. Doug Sides officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Green Pine Funeral Home.
