Herman Lamar “Doc” Morgan, 68, of Lake Park, Georgia, died Friday, June 11, 2004, at South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, Georgia.
Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M. Sunday, June 13, 2004, at the Pinetta Baptist Church, Irwin County, Georgia with Rev. Tommy Land, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 until 9:00 Saturday evening at Paulk Funeral Home, Ocilla.
Mr. Morgan was born April 11, 1936, in Irwin County, Georgia to the late Louise Gibbs Chaney. Mr. Morgan was a retired employee of the Bell South Telephone Company with 35 years of service having worked in Macon, Albany, Valdosta, and Atlanta. He was a member of the Pioneers of America, River Bend Baptist Church, and was a U.S. Army Veteran having been stationed in the Panama Canal.
Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife: Jean Morgan of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law: Wanda and Brian Burkhardt of Valdosta; and two granddaughters: Krista Plair and Amber Burkhardt, both of Valdosta.
