Tom A. Rowell, 85, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, November 2, 2012, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Monday, November 5, 2012, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Edsel Young officiating. Interment will be held in the New Hope Cemetery, Coffee County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Rowell was born December 9, 1926 in Irwin County to the late A. A. and Ellen Key Rowell. He was a former employee of J.P. Stevens Mill in Tifton and truck owner/operator for Walker Trucking Company in Clearwater, Florida. He lived in the community most of his life and was a former resident of Largo, Florida. He had a love of the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He attended Eastside Holiness Church.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Brenda Flowers and Dianne & Ken Wauters of Phoenix, Arizona, Elaine Holley of Fitzgerald, and Tammy Phillips of Baldwyn, Mississippi; son: Matthew Alexander Wilmoth of Birmingham, Alabama; step-son and daughter-in-law: Billy & Meredith Walsh of Fitzgerald; step-daughter: Elaine Walsh of Fitzgerald; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one sister: Leacy Ann Walker & Luther of Jacksonville, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife: Sallie Mae Howell Walsh Rowell, a daughter: Sandy Villa, four brothers and four sisters.
