Arthur F. Rogers Sr., Age 87, of Medford, passed away peacefully on November 1, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford following an extended illness. He was the beloved husband of F. Lorraine Rogers his childhood sweetheart with whom he shared more than 65 years of marriage. He was the son of the late Chester S. Rogers Sr. and Mildred (Ralph) Rogers.
Born and raised in Watertown,after their marriage he and Lorraine settled in Medford to raise their family. Arthur worked for many years in the electronic industry but always was active in the Medford community even after his retirement. He was instrumental in establishing the Senior Work Program, The Medford emergency 911 system and moderated his own Senior Cable TV show. He served as Warden in many local and state elections and enjoyed stamp collecting and family genealogy. His greatest joy was his family and in particular his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Along with his wife Lorraine he is survived by his son Arthur F. Rogers Jr. and his wife Patricia of Chelmsford, Mark E. Rogers and his wife Suzanne of New Hampshire, His daughter Gail F. Rogers of Medford. Also 11 Loving grandchildren and 5 loving great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Robert A. Rogers who passed away in 1993 and seven brothers and sisters.
His funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford on Tuesday, November 6, at 8 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St. Malden at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home on Monday, November 5, from 4 thru 8. Service will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
