Obituary

Madelyn (Sweeney) Kruger, 84, of New Bedford died Friday June 11, 2004 at Our Lady's Haven after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of William J. Kruger.

Born in East Taunton, the daughter of the late Charles and Cecelia (Shannon) Sweeney, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life. She was a graduate of Holy Family High School.

She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.

Mrs. Kruger was a former member of the Catholic Guild for the Blind. She enjoyed reading, traveling, attending plays, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Thomas J. Kruger, and his wife Christine, of New Bedford; two daughters, Patricia A. Harrington of Mattapoisett and Mary Kruger of New Bedford; her son-in-law, Edmund A. Harrington, Jr. of New Bedford; a sister, Marguerite Bobola of Fairhaven; her good friend, Marcia Mitchell of Mattapoisett; seven grandchildren, Scott Kruger, Mark Kruger, Jay Kruger, Amy Kruger, Patricia S. Harrington, Kelly A. Harrington, and Samantha M. Kruger; two great-grandchildren, Madison Kruger and Lindsey Kruger; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Mae Manning, Cecelia Townley, Charles Sweeney, Thomas Sweeney and Edward Sweeney.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordMonday June 14, 2004 at 11 AM.Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 12 Noon.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Sunday June 13, 2004 from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Holy Family-Holy Name School, 91 Summer St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
