Mrs. Ruth E. (Kearn) Harty Tibbetts, a lifelong resident of Andover and beloved wife of the late Edward T. Harty and Timothy Tibbetts, died at the Wingate at Andover Nursing Center in Andover on November 1, 2012. She was 96 years old.
Born in Allston, Massachusetts, on October 29, 1916, Ruth was the beloved daughter of the late Frederick and Mary (O'Connor) Kearn. Mrs. Tibbets was the co-owner of John J. Forest Drug in Lawrence. Ruth was very artistic and always enjoyed drawing, painting and watercolors. She volunteered playing the piano at many local places, including the Andover Senior Center, Holy Family Hospital and Andover Commons. Above all, Ruth was a very devoted wife, mother grandmother and great-grandmother.
She will be very sorely missed by her loving children; Joseph F. Harty of Sterling Colorado, Marilyn R. and her husband Robert Livingston of Chelmsford, Edward T. Harty, Jr. of Billlerica, Susan M. and her husband Richard Raymond of Hampstead, New Hampshire and Dennis J. Harty of Londonderry, New Hampshire, siblings; Warren Kearn of Andover and Marjorie Grant of Georgia, ten grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, many great-greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also the loving sister of the late Lillian Tammany, Charles Kearn, Virginia Holt and Herbert Kearn.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggett's Pond Road, Andover, Saturday, November 3, 2012, at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. There were no calling hours. Interment was held in St. Augustine Cemetery in Andover. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home of Andover.
