Melva L. (Herrick) Jeffries, 85, of Fairhaven died June 10, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Edward E. Jeffries.
Born in Belfast, Maine, the daughter of the late Ralph H. and Bessie E. (Brown) Herrick, she had lived in Fairhaven for most of her life.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Fairhaven.
Mrs. Jeffries was formerly employed by Rodney Metals for many years until her retirement.
She enjoyed bowling, collecting wood carved birds and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include a niece, Evelyn Fernandes, and her husband Edwin, of Mattapoisett; a great-nephew, Robert Fernandes, and his wife Laurie, of Acushnet; and a great-great-nephew, Joshua Fernandes of Acushnet.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, Monday, June 14th at 10 AM.
Visiting hours Sunday, June 13th from 4-7 PM.
Interment Riverside Cemetery.
