Obituary

Edmund Furtado, of Plymouth, died on October 31st at Boston Medical Center at the age of 83. He is survived by his beloved wife Phyllis (McManus) of Plymouth, his sons Michael of Florida, Kevin of Plymouth and his daughters Deborah Furtado and Cynthia Kennedy, both of Plymouth. He was the father of the late Darryl Furtado. He also leaves 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, his brother Robert Furtado of Plymouth and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late David Furtado and Violet Furtado.

Edmund was born and raised in Plymouth, son of the late Manuel and Mary (Viera) Furtado. He graduated from Plymouth High School and was the owner of Furtado’s Barber Shop in North Plymouth for over 50 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the Cold Spring Club. Edmund enjoyed golfing, fishing and especially spending time with his family.

A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 5th at St. Peter’s Church at 10 AM followed by burial at Vine Hills Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, November 4th at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St (Rt 3A), N. Plymouth from 2 to 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
