Obituary

Worcester – Richard F. “Papa” Giguere, 71, of Worcester, died on Monday, October 29th in the Tufts Medical Center in Boston after a courageous battle with leukemia.

Richard leaves behind his wife of 52 years Evelyn (Mellor) Giguere; a son, Stephen Giguere of Worcester; a daughter, Christine Giguere of Worcester; a sister, Barbara Hogan of Worcester; 4 grandchildren, Patrick Giguere, Michael Giguere, Christopher Silva and Sarah Giguere as well as many nephews and nieces.

Mr. Giguere was born in Worcester, son of the late Roland and Marion (McFadden) Giguere and is also predeceased by a son Richard Giguere. He is a graduate of Commerce High School and worked for many years as a shipper and receiver for the former Capitol Toys Company and retired in 1990.

Richard had a fun loving personality and put his family and grandchildren as his priority in life. He enjoyed taking trips to Maine, where he would always partake in a good meal of fried clams. Rich took great pleasure in camping, watching and following various sports teams and events, listening to Irish music and spending time in the city of Boston.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ken Miller, the 8 north staff and the Infusion Center at Tufts Medical Center for the exceptional care and support that was given to Richard, they were like an extension of their own family. The family would also like to acknowledge the staff of Beaumont Nursing & Rehabilitation in Worcester for the support that they have given to the family during this most difficult time.

Family and friends are invited to Saint John’s Cemetery 260 Cambridge St. on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 11 AM for a graveside service.
