Obituary

BOXFORD: David E. Connell, 75, died Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family and his hospice nurse, Amanda after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He was husband of the late Janice M. (Yeskelvitch) Connell who passed away in 2010.
Born in Haverhill on November 5, 1936, he was the son of the late Daniel E. and Minnie (Moses) Connell. He has been a resident of Boxford since 1970 and previously resided in Haverhill for many years. He was a graduate of Haverhill High School and later in life received his Bachelor’s Degree in accounting by attending Bentley College on a part-time basis in their night school program. He continued to work full-time and along with his wife, Janice raising their young family until he reached his goal of becoming a Certified Public Accountant. He retired from the former Bardon Trimount Company now known as Aggregate Industries where he worked as a controller for many years until his retirement. He also worked as a controller for Franchi Construction for several years.
David loved to play tennis and always enjoyed golfing. He was an avid sports fan and could be found watching all of his favorite teams. He was known as “Papa” to his five grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them and all of his family. David was a hard worker and a good man who enjoyed life. He showed his family just how tough he was during the two years that he battled cancer.
David is survived by his three daughters, Lisa O’Shea and her husband, Daniel of Gastonia, NC, Kimberly Shaw and her husband, Daniel, Jr., of Groveland and Erin Nardone and her husband, Mark of Andover; five grandchildren, Daniel and Meaghan O’Shea, Cara Shaw and Rachel and Mark Nardone; two sisters, Barbara Brodie of Merrimac and Charlotte Murphy of Andover; three brothers-in-law, John Anthony of Fairfield, CA, James Anthony of Portsmouth, NH and Jerry Anthony of Round Rock, TX and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday in the Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St., Bradford at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Friday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford.
