Francis Thomas Jantzen Jr of Pembroke Pines Florida, formerly of Needham died on Tuesday June 8, 2004 after a lengthy illness due to a head injury. He was 83 years old. Mr. Jantzen was a graduate of Harvard University Class of 1943 and Boston College Law School Class of 1948. A World War II veteran, Frank was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and saw enemy combat while crossing the Rhine River in Germany in 1945. He also commanded a platoon during the war and assisted the U.S. Army in crossing the rapid currents of the Rhine River. Mr. Jantzen was a long time workers compensation attorney who practiced at the DIA for decades before his head injury accident in 1982. He also managed the legal department of Wausau Insurance Co, workers compensation “New England Division” for 15 years. An avid golfer and reader, Frank was the club champion in 1972 and honorary life member of the Needham Golf Club. Mr. Jantzen was a regular Mass attendee and parishioner of Saint Bartholomew Church in Needham for over 30 years. The beloved husband for over 57 years to Marion (Brady), he was the loving father of Francis T. III and his wife Linda of Pembroke Pines FL, Joan Jantzen Kister and her husband Allan of Fuguay-Varina NC, Christopher M. and his wife Suzanne of Needham and Peter J. and his wife Denise of Concord. He was the brother of William Jantzen of Hingham and the late Alice, Robert and Richard. Cherished grandfather of Frank, Andrea, Jesse, Marianna, Jennifer and Caroline. Funeral from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Avenue Needham on Saturday June 12 at 9:15 AM followed by Funeral Mass at Saint Joseph Church at 10:00 AM.
