Lawrence Love Gibbs, 90, of Cape Coral, Florida died Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at Cape Coral Hospital in Cape Coral, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2012, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. David Poe will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Chris Gibbs, Skip Gibbs, Steve Gibbs, Reggie Gibbs, Scott Pollard and Rachel Duncan will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 2, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Gibbs was born on January 9, 1922 in Tifton and was the son of Ollie Gibbs and Caroline May Love Gibbs, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ola Jean Knight Gibbs. He was a retired electrician and also served three years in the United States Navy.
Mr. Gibbs is survived by three sons, Ollie E. Gibbs of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Larry Gene Gibbs of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Jeffrey Ray Gibbs of Hurst, Texas; one brother, Wallace Gibbs of Tifton; three sisters, June Wiggins of Tifton, Faye Jones of Stone Mountain and Sara Boush of Silver Spring, Maryland; eight grandchildren, Reggie Gibbs, Wendy Pollard, Kevin Gibbs, Rachel Duncan, Chris Gibbs, Skip Gibbs, Steve Gibbs and Andrea Gibbs; and seven great-grandchildren, Ryan Pollard, Katie Pollard, Lukas Duncan, Autumn Gibbs, Angus Gibbs, Jameson Gibbs and Arianna Gibbs.
